Another
favorite haunt for Cutthroats be Cap'n Crash's Ye
House of Pyrates
tavern which is located behind the warehouse on the main dock (near
the berthed Galleon). Many a pirate flocked to this 'ere
tavern to listen to Crash's yarns of life on the ocean wave.
The story of Crash's arrival to Tortuga is a grand one in itself,
for the Cap'n liked a drink 'o two and was frequently drunk whilst
barking out orders to his motley crew. Needless to say,
one fateful misty September morning, back in '33, he
sailed his hardy Sloop into Tortuga bay and ended up crashing it
into some treacherous rocks close to the east beach - hence from
that time on, Cap'n Crash earned his new name!
The ship
went down with a hold full of silver and Cap'n Jon wasted no time in
claiming salvage rights on Crash's half-sunken vessel. He
retrieved no less than £10,000 worth of silver coins from the sea
bed. With the booty, Jon built his very own tavern on the dock
- The Silver Sloop.
Crash's
wrecked ships hulk can still be seen to this day, it lays at
the end of the east dock, next to the tavern that bears its
name.
Why
not pay a visit to these two Taverns and enjoy a drink o' two as ye
